How Operelio and dataloader.io differ

  1. When you see each row's outcome

Before you push, Operelio shows which rows will be created, updated, skipped or refused. dataloader.io reports once the task has run: we found no preview, and its success and error files list the rows that loaded and why others failed.

Operelio checks each row against your org and gives the reason for each skip and refusal. It marks rows Salesforce will refuse over restricted or dependent picklist values, field lengths, missing required fields or unclear checkbox values, and flags new rows that look like an existing lead or contact.

  2. Matching on email instead of IDs

dataloader.io upserts on a Salesforce ID or an external ID in the file. Lookups resolve related records from values such as an account name, using the first match or marking the row as an error.

Operelio matches leads and contacts by email address and accounts by website or name, and finds or creates each contact's account. Overwrite is one setting for the whole push, and on overwrite a blank cell clears the Salesforce field. It never merges or deletes records, and there is no undo.

  3. Operelio cleans the file before it loads

We found no data cleaning or email validation in dataloader.io, and no way to merge or split field values.

Deduplicate, Find & Replace, Filter & Extract and Health Check fixes run before the push, with the free email quality check on every plan. On Starter and up, email verification checks whether each mailbox can receive mail, at one credit per address checked.

  4. Fixed-file schedules versus trails for new files

A dataloader.io task can run daily, or hourly, weekly or monthly on paid plans, with Box, Dropbox, FTP or SFTP, and a scheduled import needs the same file name and folder path each time.

An Operelio trail takes files by upload, email-in or API (Pro and up) and runs on arrival or on a schedule (every day, on weekdays, once a week or every 6, 8 or 12 hours). A new trail holds each push for approval, and you can let clean runs push on their own.

Where dataloader.io is better

  • Export and delete too

dataloader.io exports and deletes Salesforce records as well as importing them, and handles related objects and attachments.
  • Keys and lookups

dataloader.io upserts on a Salesforce ID or an external ID, and its lookups resolve related record IDs from names in your file.
  • Scheduled file round trips

Tasks run daily, or hourly, weekly or monthly on paid plans, and read or write files in Box, Dropbox or FTP, plus SFTP on Enterprise.
