Freshsales import templates and field mappings

What a Freshsales import actually fills, field by field, with the API name for each one. 13 fields across 21 ready-made mappings for 21 different exports. Operelio formats the file and Freshsales imports it.

Required fields an export often cannot fill

Freshsales refuses a row without these. Most exports do not contain them, which is why an import fails on a field nobody chose to leave out.

Last Name

last_name6 exports cannot fill it

Freshsales requires Last Name on every contact. ActiveCampaign exports ship a Last Name column whenever the field was collected on the signup form; older lists may have it blank if the form never asked.

What to do: Scan your CSV for blank Last Name rows before uploading. Fill them by hand from the email signature where possible, or remove those rows.

How the data gets into Freshsales

Operelio formats the file for Freshsales on every plan, including Free, and you import it with Freshsales’s own importer. Direct push currently covers HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive.

  • Columns are renamed to the field names Freshsales expects, so its importer matches them instead of asking you to map each one by hand.
  • Values are cleaned on the way through: emails lowercased and trimmed, phone numbers put into international format, names title-cased. Each template lists the transform it applies to every field.
  • Rows that would fail are shown before you download, not after the import rejects them.

Which fields does Operelio map into Freshsales?

How many exports have a ready-made Freshsales mapping?

What if my export has no Last Name?

Freshsales requires Last Name on every contact. ActiveCampaign exports ship a Last Name column whenever the field was collected on the signup form; older lists may have it blank if the form never asked. Scan your CSV for blank Last Name rows before uploading. Fill them by hand from the email signature where possible, or remove those rows. Of the exports with a Freshsales template, 6 do not carry Last Name, so the template says so before you run the import rather than after it fails.
