Lead flow and routing

Operelio vs Distribution Engine

Pick Operelio if leads arrive as files: a trail cleans each file, can assign owners and pushes it into HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive, automatically or with approval. Pick Distribution Engine, which runs inside Salesforce, to route leads, cases and custom objects by territory, skills, workload and availability.

How Operelio and Distribution Engine differ

  1. Inside Salesforce or before the CRM

Distribution Engine works inside Salesforce; Operelio works before the record reaches the CRM. Distribution Engine routes a lead, case or custom object the instant it exists in Salesforce, whether it came from a web form, marketing, a list import or the API.

Operelio starts with the file. A trail (Starter and up) cleans the rows, checks each one against the CRM and pushes them, automatically or with approval. It runs on arrival or on a schedule: every day, on weekdays, once a week or every 6, 8 or 12 hours.

  2. Distribution Engine has the deeper routing

Distribution Engine routes with more rules. It assigns by territory, skills, workload, availability and account ownership, matches leads to existing accounts, weights reps, sets daily or live caps, skips anyone on PTO and reassigns a record when an SLA is missed.

A trail can set the owner as it pushes or leave it unset. On Salesforce the two can then work together: the trail's records arrive through the API, a source Distribution Engine says it routes, and its rules pick the rep.

  3. Email verification and ICP filters before the CRM

Distribution Engine routes records once they are in Salesforce. We found no email verification or CSV import into the CRM documented on Distribution Engine's site.

A trail filters rows by job function, seniority, industry and company size and verifies emails (Starter and up). Before you push, a report shows what will be created, updated, skipped or refused, with the reason for each skip or refusal. Blank fields are filled and existing values kept unless you choose to overwrite.

Where Distribution Engine is better

  • Any Salesforce object

Routes leads, cases, opportunities, accounts, contacts and custom objects the instant the record exists, from any source.
  • Leads matched to accounts

Matches incoming leads to existing accounts and contacts, so a lead lands with the rep who already owns the account.
  • SLAs with reassignment

Each assignment carries an SLA; miss it and the record goes back into rotation. Reps get alerts in Salesforce, Slack or email.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Distribution Engine cost?

Starter is $20, Advanced $35 and Unlimited $55 per user a month, billed annually, with a minimum of 5 licenses. Every rep, admin and manager using it needs a license. It is free for 30 days through the Salesforce AppExchange, with no credit card.

Does Distribution Engine work with HubSpot or Pipedrive?

We found no documented HubSpot or Pipedrive support. Distribution Engine is 100% Salesforce-native and routes records that already exist in Salesforce.

Does Distribution Engine clean or verify data?

Yes, in part. From Advanced it matches leads to existing accounts, contacts and leads, merges duplicate leads and converts matched leads inside Salesforce. We found no email verification, CSV import into the CRM or AI features documented on its site.

Can Operelio route leads like Distribution Engine?

For leads that arrive as files, in part: a trail sends each file's rows to one rep, a column of rep emails or round robin. It has no territory rules, weights, caps, availability checks or SLA reassignment; Distribution Engine routes by those inside Salesforce.

Is Operelio a Distribution Engine alternative?

Yes, for leads that reach you as files rather than as Salesforce records. A trail cleans each file, checks it against your CRM, can set owners and pushes it, from $29.25 a month billed yearly. To route records already in Salesforce by territory, skills and workload, Distribution Engine fits better.
