How Operelio and Power Query differ
Recorded steps, or one tool per job
Power Query records each step you apply and replays them when you hit Refresh. That pays off when the same file comes every month, and it can join many sources.
In Operelio you pick a tool such as Deduplicate or Data Health Check, set its options and get a new version of the file with a count of what changed. On Starter and up, the Workflow Builder saves a chain of up to 8 steps to run on the next file.
Power Query's Remove Duplicates is case-sensitive
In Power Query, "Anna@acme.example" and "anna@acme.example" both survive Remove Duplicates, and Microsoft does not guarantee which row of a set it keeps. Operelio ignores case and extra spaces by default, even in exact matching, so the two count as one. Smart matching also folds Gmail dots, phone formats and company suffixes.
Reading Salesforce data, or pushing to a CRM
Power Query in Excel reads Salesforce objects and reports into the workbook. We found no documented way for Excel to write results back to a CRM.
Operelio pushes the clean file into your CRM (Starter and up). Before you push, a report shows which rows are new, updated or not sent, with warnings for values your CRM would refuse. By default it fills only blank CRM fields, so existing values stay.

Frequently asked questions
Is Power Query free?
Yes, with Excel: Power Query has no separate price. It comes with desktop Excel in Microsoft 365 and in Excel 2016 to 2024 for Windows. Microsoft 365 Personal costs $9.99 a month billed monthly, or $99.99 a year.
Can Operelio clean the same file every month?
Yes, with a trail (Starter and up). Upload or email each new file to the trail's folder. The trail cleans and verifies it, then waits for your approval unless you let clean runs push on their own. On a schedule, it picks up new files only.
Does Power Query work on Mac?
Partly. Excel for Mac in Microsoft 365 opens the Power Query Editor and imports from files such as CSV, Excel, JSON and XML, plus SharePoint and OData. Windows has more sources. Excel 2016 and 2019 for Mac have no Power Query support.
Why did Power Query keep the wrong duplicate?
Microsoft does not guarantee which row of a set Remove Duplicates keeps, and the step is case-sensitive, so rows that differ only in case both stay.
Can Power Query push data to Salesforce or HubSpot?
Not that we found for Excel. Power Query reads Salesforce objects and reports into the workbook, with reports capped at 2,000 rows, and we found no HubSpot connector for Excel.
